| V-Day: Until the Violence Stops: Rachel A. VanKoughnet, Esq. V-Day Until the Violence Stops is a presentation about Eve Ensler's international effort to stop violence against women and girls by a V-Day volunteer since 2002. The presentation will highlight the foundation of the charity, the course of action it took and where we are today in terms of combatting violence and raising awareness about violence against women as a global issue. Portions of the V-Day Docudrama DVD, Until the Violence Stops, will be screened. |

| "Women and the Crisis in Darfur": Amanda Hsiao from the Enough Project Though the situation in Darfur is no longer dominated by organized violence and displacement, the region remains a humanitarian crisis for its population. Women are central to this current crisis, as its survivors, its spokespeople, and its advocates. This session will look at the lives of Darfuri women, the work of women in the Darfur peace process, and the efforts of women activists abroad. *Recommended for High School Students. |
| Buffalo-Tanzania Education Project: Building Capacity for Meaningful Collaboration: Dr. Mara Huber, Katie J. Biggie & Dr. Kathleen Kost In December 2007 the Center for Educational Collaboration began developing a partnership with a community to build a school for girls in the remote northern region of Musoma, Tanzania. In July 2009, a team composed of faculty from the University at Buffalo and selected community members visited Tanzania to learn more about the challenges, needs, and opportunities to education in rural villages. This presentation will discuss the exploratory trip as well as the local projects created to increase access to education. |

| "Don't Be a Victim: Safety Issues for Women": Jeff Schober and Det. Dennis Delano Jeff Schober and Det. Dennis Delano are co-authors of Bike Path Rapist, the true crime account of a serial killer who operated in Western New York before his arrest in 2007. Over the course of nearly 30 years, Altemio Sanchez selected random women by choosing secluded locations for his attacks. The authors will discuss their book, details of the case, and provide safety tips to minimize the likelihood of becoming a victim. |
| Human Trafficking and Genocide Investigations: Kevin Ryan from the Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement Overview of ICE SAC Buffalo's effort involving Human Trafficking; I will also have a second agent who will provide an overview on ICE SAC Buffalo's efforts regarding investigating Human rights violators in Africa. This agent has spent time over the last year investigating these crimes in Africa. You can reference both investigations in local news papers, Democratic and Chronicle in Rochester and the other in the Buffalo News. |

| Domestic Violence in Immigrant Communities: Kathy Ahmed Participants will learn some of the struggles of domestic violence in African immigrant communities, primarily those with a Muslim background. Some of the causes and challenges will be addressed and how some perceptions that exist within their community and outside their community can become an added hindrance in effectively addressing this issue. |
