Summer Institute Wins National Francois Manchuelle Award

In December 2008, the Summer Institute was thrilled and honored to receive the national Francois Manchuelle Award, given by the Association of African Studies Programs in honor of their late colleague who lost his life in the 1996 TWA air crash.

The Francois Manchuelle Award is awarded for innovative work in expanding the domain of African studies at a K-12 level, promoting novel and effective outreach initiatives to American communities with an interest in Africa, and to honor distinguished innovative work in high school and public education instruction about the continent.
