- Spaghetti Dinner: “Dine for Darfur” at Frontier High School (Sponsored by Tina’s Italian Kitchen) (It was a HUGE success!) Click here to download the poster. - Frontier’s Foreign Language Teacher, Maria Wilcox has created the “Cookbook with a Conscience.” Several recipes were submitted and the final product is AMAZING! A special thanks to Maria for countless hours on this beautiful book. Copies are available for $10 each! They will make a wonderful gift this holiday season!
- The movie “Hotel Rwanda” was shown at Frontier High School.
- Relay teams have formed for the Buffalo Marathon! (May 27th) We had relay teams from Frontier High School, Hamburg High School, Christ the King Seminary, local businesses, etc. We are ran for the cause and will be doing it again next year! Stay tuned for more info!
- Students have written about Darfur in the Frontier High School Newspaper: IN FLIGHT. (Missy Barone is the Advisor)
- English classes at Frontier High School are reading the book Left to Tell (Written by a survivor of the Rwandan Holocaust) (Lauren Newman is the coordinator).
- “Invisible Children” was shown at Frontier High School! This is a very inspirational documentary about displaced children in northern Uganda. Check out their website at: http://www.invisiblechildren.com .
- Frontier High School students attended a “Displace Me” event in Pittsburgh. Check out their website:http://www.invisiblechildren.com/displaceMe/
- Frontier High School’s FACT Club hosted a “Lock In” and raised awareness and money for Buffalo for Africa! Teacher, Sue Haefner organized this very exciting night for students!
- Frontier High School’s Italian, French, Spanish & International Clubs are active in events, donated for our spaghetti dinner and are inspiring students to help those in need. (Advisors are: Mrs. Rizzo, Miss Sacco, Mrs. Binner, Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Sullivan and Mrs. Wilcox)
- Frontier Middle School’s French Club raised money for the UNHCR. (Ms. Cirelli was the coordinator)
- Cloverbank Elementary in the Frontier District participated in the Spaghetti Dinner and performed: Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World.” (Teacher Mrs. Infante and Student Teacher Miss Warner led their class).
- Frontier High School’s Sophomore Class generously donated to sponsor more t-shirts and to the International Rescue Committee. (Aubryn McGuire is the Advisor)
- Frontier High School’s Freshman Classgenerously donated $300 to the International Rescue Committee. (MaryFrances Snyder is the Advisor)
- Frontier High School’s Social Studies classes hosted a Bake Sale for Cows for Kenya. (Coordinated by teachers Mrs. Northway and Mrs. Brooks)
- Frontier High School is having “A Week of Change…” (Darfur Awareness Week). Several events will take place: daily announcements, wear a BFA sticker on your hat for a donation, create banners, letters to politicians, paper dolls for Darfur, etc.
- Frontier High School teachers, Patty Evans & Aubryn McGuire created a dvd collection to document all of the events happening for Buffalo for Africa.
- Many schools, businesses and organizations across WNY are learning about the atrocities in Darfur and are taking action! (Check out the page about what other schools are doing across WNY)
