About Us
Buffalo For Africa is a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization that was created in order to raise awareness about the genocides and human rights atrocities happening in Africa. We hope to raise awareness, to educate our citizens, to promote character and compassion and to showcase the talent and goodness that the people of our city possess, especially students.
Buffalo For Africa was born in 2006 by educators and students who felt the need to spread the word and promote action to help those in Africa. By becoming a non profit organization in 2009, we feel that we will be able to reach more people that can help us in our quest to bring peace and justice to those who truly need it!
We have been able to accomplish a lot in such a short time! Some of our activities include a fund raising spaghetti dinner that raised over $10,000 for the International Rescue Committee, the creation of the Summer Institute on Human Rights and Genocide Studies, the annual Women’s Conference, Family Fun Days to raise awareness and funds, and a flapjack fundraiser.
